A sexual assault trial got underway in New Hampshire for a man whose arrest more than seven years ago kicked off one of the biggest youth detention scandals in U.S. history.

One of the first men charged with abusing children at New Hampshire’s state-run youth detention center has been acquitted of three sexual assault charges, but a jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on five other counts.
