Prescott signed a $160 million, four-year contract in March. Gilbert made his first career start after the Cowboys signed him following Prescott's injury last year. “It’s part of being a backup quarterback, right?” Garrett said after practice Wednesday.

Garrett Gilbert appears set for his first NFL start for the Dallas Cowboys against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. The NFL Network, citing unidentified sources, reported the Cowboys planned to start Gilbert at home Sunday. Gilbert's agent, Leigh Steinberg, posted on Twitter that he was traveling to “see Garrett Gilbert start” against the Steelers. Dalton will be the first Dallas player to go on the COVID-19 list since before the season. Dalton signed a one-year contract to be Prescott’s backup. He was Prescott’s backup for three seasons before the Cowboys signed Dalton and released him.
