MLB umpires to announce replay decisons for 1st time
", big league umpires will be heard saying “Overturned!” and “Upheld!” for the first time this season. “Major league umpires will conduct in-park announcements during the replay review process,” Major League Baseball announced Friday. Until now, umpires had revealed their decisions such as safe and out with hand signals. The NFL had an initial replay system from 1986-91, abandoned it, then reinstalled it for the 1999 season. The NHL added a replay system in 1991 and the NBA in 2002.

The Reds will see if they get any extra work when Luis Castillo (1-4, 6.42 ERA) pitches the opener of a four-game series at Colorado.

It left San Diego scrambling for replacements for the doubleheader. O’Grady has hit safely in all six games he's played at El Paso this season. The 31-year-old Kivlehan has played in six games for El Paso, hitting .231 with a homer. San Diego also recalled lefty Nick Ramirez from Triple-A El Paso to serve as the team's 27th player for the doubleheader.

Rodriguez)ARLINGTON, Texas Daniel Bard won in his first major league game in more than seven years, pitching 1 1-3 scoreless innings in relief for the Colorado Rockies in a 3-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Saturday. A first-round pick by the Boston Red Sox in 2006, Bard made his big league debut three years later. The Rangers left 12 runners on base, including multiple runners in the fifth through eighth innings. LHP Kyle Freeland, who was 3-11 last season, pitches for Colorado.
