The Red Sox postponed their opener against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park on Thursday because of rain that was forecast to last all day. "One day, two days, three days — I really don't care, to be honest with you," Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. The Red Sox made the announcement at 9 a.m., about five hours before the scheduled first pitch. “The decision to postpone our first game of the season was not made lightly,” Red Sox President Sam Kennedy said.
Padres star Tatis has shoulder problem, to be re-evaluated
The Padres said Tatis had discomfort in his non-throwing left shoulder and would be re-evaluated on Wednesday. Corbin Burnes turned in 4 2/3 innings, striking out six while allowing two runs on three hits. Jon Lester allowed one run and three hits in 3 2/3 innings in his second start of the spring for Washington. He gave up five hits, hit two batters and struck out three. Another run scored on a wild pitch and the Dodgers also got their 10th walk, matching Atlanta in 1997 for the most in a nine-inning NLDS game. Garrett Richards (0-1), the sixth of nine Padres pitchers, was gone after giving up the hit to Betts. It was only his second start start since a two-hit shutout in a seven-inning complete game Sept. 13. Dodgers: INF Edwin Rios was left off the NLDS roster because of a groin issue.
Padres manager Tingler ejected from NLDS Game 1 vs LA
ARLINGTON, Texas – San Diego Padres manager Jayce Tingler was ejected by home plate umpire Lance Barrett in the sixth inning of Game 1 of the NL Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers while making his sixth pitching change Tuesday night. It wasn't clear why Tingler was thrown out for the second time in his rookie season leading the Padres. Tingler was tossed while replacing reliever Garrett Richards just after the Dodgers' first hit, a double by Mookie Betts. The Padres sent a parade of relievers to the mound after Mike Clevinger left the game after throwing his second pitch of the second inning. After Tingler was ejected, the Dodgers scored four runs in the sixth to break a 1-all tie.

Right-handed reliever Dylan Floro (3-0, 2.59 ERA) was the pitcher added for the longer NLDS. The Padres last week became the first team to use eight or more pitchers in three consecutive playoff games.

Los Angeles is seeking its first World Series title since 1988. Grisham angered the Dodgers by briefly posing at the plate after homering off Clayton Kershaw in the Padres' 7-2 win Monday night. He was scheduled to have an MRI in Los Angeles on Wednesday after facing just one batter Tuesday night.
2 Giants-Padres games postponed after positive SF virus test
SAN DIEGO – The game between San Francisco and the San Diego Padres was postponed minutes before the scheduled first pitch Friday night after someone in the Giants organization tested positive for COVID-19. There have been 45 major league games postponed this season because of coronavirus concerns. But the Padres didn't take the field and the team announced the game had been postponed. About a half-hour after the game was to have started, the Padres announced the reason for the postponement. A few minutes after that, the Padres filed into the stands for a team meeting.
