Walker campaign staffer lawsuit says GOP activist groped him
It accuses Schlapp of "aggressively fondling" the staffer's "genital area in a sustained fashion" while the staffer was driving Schlapp back to his hotel from a bar in October after a Walker campaign event. “As a direct and proximate result of Mr. Schlapp’s battery upon Mr. Doe, Mr. Doe suffered damages, including without limitation shock, mortification, horror, humiliation, and distress,” it reads. Former Walker campaign senior aides did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press seeking comment Tuesday. However, Mr. Schlapp has had ample time to accept responsibility and apologize for his despicable actions. But instead of doing the right thing, Mr. Schlapp, Ms. Schlapp, and their friends and associates embarked on a ridiculous, spurious and defamatory attempt to smear the reputation of Mr. Schlapp’s victim,” it said.

news.yahoo.comGa. secretary of state wants to end general election runoffs
Under current Georgia law, if no candidate wins more than 50% of the vote in a primary or general election, the top two finishers advance to a runoff election. In most states, the candidate who earns the greatest number of votes, even if that is far short of a majority, wins a party primary or general election. Georgia went one step further in the 1960s and also required runoffs for general elections, a move the sponsor said was meant to bolster white rule. Burt Jones, who will preside over the state Senate, and representatives of the state Republican and Democratic parties did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday. Changes in a 2021 election law meant that the final day of voting in this year's runoff election was just four weeks after the general election.

Democrats and Republicans alike are parsing their victories and defeats after an extended midterm campaign season that ended with Tuesday's runoff election. “We're just getting started,” said U.S. Rep. Nikema Williams, chair of the state Democratic Party. Biden won the state by just 11,779 votes in 2020, becoming the first Democratic presidential candidate in three decades to carry Georgia. Dan McLagan, a veteran Republican campaign leader, argues Georgia isn't truly a tossup state — or, at least, it shouldn't be. Warnock ran a base-plus-plus strategy,” said Democratic strategist Tharon Johnson, noting that Warnock distanced himself from Biden and tagged Walker as unfit for office.

news.yahoo.comWhy AP called the Georgia Senate runoff for Warnock
There weren't enough uncounted votes in Republican-leaning areas for GOP challenger Herschel Walker to make up his runoff election night gap with incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock. Voting in the runoff began just weeks after the Nov. 8 general election, when neither Warnock and Walker was able to win more than 50% of votes cast. Georgia law requires a runoff four weeks after the general election if no candidate gets more than 50% of the initial vote in the general election. Twin runoff elections in Georgia in early 2021 determined the balance of power in the U.S. Senate, with Warnock and fellow Democrat Jon Ossoff taking both seats. The closing weeks of the general and runoff election periods grew increasingly bitter.
