The vote to join the lawsuit over the Hungerford property failed Tuesday in Eatonville. The lawsuit, filed by the Southern Poverty Law center, alleges closed - door meetings led by the former mayor improperly determined the fate of the property.

Town leaders in Eatonville are again weighing what comes next for one of the most high-profile and contentious pieces of land in the historic Black town: the former Hungerford Prep campus.

Advocates with the historic Hungerford property are calling for the Orange County School Board to return the land back to the community for their control, adding that the property is sacred to the town of Eatonville.

Good news for many Eatonville residents came down Friday afternoon.
