A new training center in Orlando aims to ensure Central Florida's workforce of skilled ironworkers continues to grow.

Orlando Iron Workers Union 808 has launched an aggressive recruiting program to hire and train the next generation of ironworkers for what business manager Bobby Knost calls a “lifetime career.”

It's one of dozens of union locals that has launched a recruiting blitz to bring in "unrepresented" journeymen and offer paid apprenticeships to the potential next generation of skilled welders.

Members have been unable to update their accounts leaving many without as much as 6-months to a year in back benefits.
