Coastal Carolina hires NC State's Beck to replace Chadwell
CONWAY, S.C. — (AP) — Coastal Carolina has hired North Carolina State offensive coordinator Tim Beck to replace Jamey Chadwell, who left to coach Liberty. Joe Moglia, Coastal Carolina's athletic chairman and executive director for football, announced the move Sunday, the same day Chadwell was named the Flames' head coach. Beck brings 18 seasons of Power Five coaching experience to the Chanticleers, who have gone 31-6 and been ranked in the AP Top 25 the past three seasons under Chadwell. Beck spent the past 12 years as offensive coordinator at Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas and N.C. State. Beck has worked with top-level quarterbacks at N.C. Jamey Chadwell is making the move from Coastal Carolina to Liberty. According to multiple reports, Chadwell is heading to Liberty to replace Hugh Freeze. Chadwell has been the coach at Coastal for the past four seasons and the Chanticleers have won at least nine games in each of the past three years. That conference has recently positioned itself ahead of both Conference USA and the MAC in the Group of Five football hierarchy. The Sun Belt’s strength relative to Conference USA makes Chadwell’s move seem a bit odd on the surface.

McCall, Heiligh lead No. 20 Chants to rout of Georgia State
20 Coastal Carolina cruised to a 51-0 victory over Georgia State on Saturday. “We were not ready to compete," Georgia State coach Shawn Elliott said. Georgia State: The Panthers never found any rhythm after Noel Ruiz missed a field goal on the opening possession. He finished with 11 carries for 56 yards, and Georgia State averaged just 2.8 yards on 24 carries. Georgia State: Host Louisiana-Monroe next Saturday.
