Lizzo, Ed Sheeran among hundreds of acts to play Jazz Fest
NEW ORLEANS — (AP) — Lizzo and Ed Sheeran are among the headliners at this year's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which takes place over two weekends beginning April 28. Batiste, a New Orleans-area native, is one of many local acts who will perform. Other New Orleans-anchored acts include Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Radiators. It also features scores of food booths that offer delicacies from Louisiana and beyond, plus numerous art and craft exhibitions. Full schedules haven't yet been released, but Friday's announcement said Sheeran, Lizzo, Plant & Krauss, the Steve Miller Band, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gary Clark Jr., Jill Scott, Kenny Loggins and the Wu-Tang Clan will be among the first weekend's acts.

The Grammy Museum announced Thursday that Batiste will perform during a series titled “A New York Evening with Jon Batiste.” He’ll hit the stage on June 17 at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Batiste will be the first performer as part of the museum's six-part series. The museum will partner with the New York mayor’s office to bring educational programming with two summer sessions. New York City Mayor Eric Adams said he’s thrilled about the partnership.

Kevin Bacon brings music back to venues for charity concert
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Musician and actor Kevin Bacon is bringing live music back to venues that have been shuttered this year with an all-star concert TV special. The charity concert airing on CBS on Dec. 15 will raise money for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and WhyHunger. All these independently owned venues were closed to the public because of the COVID-19 pandemic. “The joy that you see among the people that are playing, I think, is very infectious in our show,” said Bacon. Although he also hasn't been able to perform in front of fans this year, Bacon has been singing and playing to a smaller audience of sorts.
New York City curfew lifts early following peaceful protests

At protests in Manhattan earlier Saturday, volunteers handed out snacks, first aid kits and plenty of water bottles on a muggy afternoon. But Mayor Bill de Blasio has insisted the curfew will remain in place throughout the weekend. She added she thinks protests could continue next week, even as some will go back to work when New York City begins its reopening. I think as long as we stay organized, thats exactly what can and will and should happen, Henry said.
