According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Heim is the first Texas player with walk-off homers in consecutive games and the first rookie to do it in the majors. The Rangers won for just the third time in 17 games while the Mariners finished 5-5 on a 10-game stretch against AL West rivals. Rangers: RHP Dane Dunning (4-7, 4.20) is set for Monday's opener of a four-game series at home against the Los Angeles Angels.

Since last season ended, the slugging A's have emphasized the need to win the division given they won 97 games each of the last two years and lost the AL wild-card game. Oakland is in the playoffs for a third straight year and the sixth time in nine seasons. Houston won a major league-best 107 games last season but lost to Washington in the World Series.
