Orange County Fire Rescue hosted a water safety event at Kelly Park following several recent drownings in Central Florida, including the deaths of young children and a mother who drowned saving her son. The event featured rescue demonstrations, CPR training, and advice on drowning prevention, such as adult supervision, pool barriers, and swim lessons. Officials emphasized the importance of assigning an undistracted adult to watch children, using four-sided fencing, and providing life jackets for weak swimmers. Free door and window alarms were also offered to help prevent children from wandering into water areas.
