An 8-year-old boy was flown to the hospital after suffering injuries in a boating accident in Lake County, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The pilot of a small plane was uninjured Sunday morning after the plane had mechanical issues and crashed into Lake Harris, according to the Tavares Police Department. The pilot was unable to land the plane back at the Leesburg International Airport, but after the plane crashed into the lake, was able to swim to safety, police said.
