The Devils made the announcement Friday, roughly 45 minutes after Ruff did not show up for a pregame news conference. When the conference started, assistant coach Alain Nasreddine walked in and said he would be running the team. Nasreddine, who usually handles the defensemen in the game, said Ruff was going to stay in the Prudential Center for the contest. Wild arrive late due to traffic, beat Devils 3-2 in shootout
NEWARK, N.J. — (AP) — The Minnesota Wild didn’t let a traffic jam slow them down against the New Jersey Devils. Kevin Fiala scored the lone goal in a shootout, Cam Talbot made 42 saves and the Wild beat the Devils 3-2 on Wednesday night after arriving late to the arena. The Devils cut the lead in half early in the third when Pavel Zacha scored to make it 2-1 at 3:08. The Devils were 0 for 4 on the power play, including a two-man advantage in the third period, when Talbot had three saves. New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald has been talking to Colorado counterpart Joe Sakic for almost two years about acquiring defenseman Ryan Graves. Devils goalie Corey Crawford retires on eve of NHL season

He won 260 regular-season games and recorded a franchise-high 52 playoff wins, winning the Cup in 2012-13 and 2014-15. Crawford led Chicago to a tie with Montreal (Carey Price) for the fewest goals allowed in 2014-15, earning his second William M. Jennings Trophy. In the 2014-15 playoffs, Crawford helped lead the Blackhawks to another Stanley Cup victory thanks to his 13 wins and two shutouts.
