SONOMA, Calif. — (AP) — NASCAR's preseason Clash race is rolling back to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 2023. NASCAR said Sunday it will return the exhibition race to the Southern California sports landmark next season. The Clash took place on a temporary 0.25-mile track inside the venerable Coliseum. The upcoming race likely will take place shortly after the 100th birthday of the Coliseum, which opened in January 1923. The Coliseum, which has hosted two Olympics and the first Super Bowl, is still the home of the USC Trojans football team.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — (AP) — Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday after a spectacular season in which he led the NFL in every major receiving category. The Rams announced the deal just two days after signing Aaron Donald to a massive contract extension. Kupp's new extension is worth $75 million, bringing his total deal to $110 million when adding the two years remaining on his first extension. Kupp had one of the greatest seasons in football history last year in his first pairing with new Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Kupp and the Rams both acknowledged their desire for a contract extension early in the offseason, but Kupp said he didn't care about becoming the NFL's highest-paid receiver despite his peerless statistical achievements last season.

LOS ANGELES — (AP) — All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald is getting a big raise to stay with the Los Angeles Rams under a reworked contract through 2024. The team didn't disclose terms of the new deal, but the NFL Network reported Donald is getting a $40 million raise that will make him the highest-paid defensive player in the league. The Rams realized Donald deserved a hefty raise, and he will get $65 million guaranteed in the next two seasons. Donald is widely considered the most dominant defensive player in the sport, and he demonstrated his power yet again last season. He is the three-time winner of the AP's Defensive Player of the Year award, claiming it in 2017, 2018 and 2020.

The Panthers have agreed to terms on a three-year $29.25 million contract with Los Angeles Rams guard Austin Corbett and a three-year, $15.75 million contract with Minnesota Vikings safety Xavier Woods, according to people familiar with the situation. The 6-foot-4, 306-pound Corbett should help a weak offensive line that surrendered the fifth-most sacks in the NFL last year.

After the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals were flagged only twice in the first 58 minutes, penalties on three consecutive plays helped determine a champion. Matthew Stafford tossed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp for the go-ahead score following three straight penalties on Cincinnati’s defense, and the Rams’ defense held on for a 23-20 victory Sunday. The barrage of flags started on third down from the 8 with 1:47 left when Stafford’s pass to Kupp was incomplete. On the next play, Stafford tossed a 4-yard TD pass to Kupp but the play was nullified by offsetting penalties. After Stafford got stuffed on a sneak, he tossed a 1-yard TD pass to Kupp.
