Brehm makes ace for share of lead at Valspar, Spieth 1 back
PALM HARBOR, Fla. — (AP) — Ryan Brehm turned a good round into a memorable one Thursday, making a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th hole at Innisbrook for a 5-under 66 that led to a three-way share of the lead at the Valspar Championship. This is the first lead for Brehm since he won the Puerto Rico Open last year in his final start to try to keep a PGA Tour card. His ace came with a 6-iron from 196 yards, and he closed with a par. Even so, he came into the Valspar Championship having missed three cuts in his last five tournaments. Two years later, he won the Valspar Championship in a playoff by making a 30-foot birdie putt.

(AP Photo/Charlie Neibergall) (Charlie Neibergall)SILVIS, Ill. — (AP) — Lucas Glover ended 10 years without a victory Sunday when he birdied five of his last seven holes for a 7-under 64 to win the John Deere Classic by two shots. He was among two dozen players separated by three shots on the rain-softened TPC Deere Run when the former U.S. Open champion went on a tear. Glover kept it simple, with his game and his observations, saying he “ironed” it well and made a bunch of putts. But on the reachable par-4 14th hole, he went well right into a nasty lie in the thick, wet rough. The victory at the 50th edition of the John Deere Classic sends Glover back to the Masters, the PGA Championship and allows him to start next year on Maui for the Tournament of Champions, a place he hasn't been in a decade.
