Colts grind out 12-9 win over Broncos in injury-filled game
“Isn’t it awesome you can have a game like that and still win," Reich said. “We wanted to win the game,” Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said. That kick capped the Colts' longest drive of the night, 68 yards in 10 plays. The Colts came in averaging 14.3 points a game, the lowest in Ryan’s 16-year career, and the Broncos entered the night avearging 16.5 points, the worst in Wilson’s 11-year career. Fantasy Football Six-Pack: More bad news for Kyle Pitts
All we can cling to with Pitts right now are his air yards, which are among the highest at his position (365). Let's please remember the reasons that he actually remained in a committee with Williams throughout the 2021 season: He's still an excellent back, one of the game's best. Gordon averaged 4.5 YPC for the Broncos a year ago and he actually didn't trail Williams by much at all in terms of yards after contact or missed tackles. He had 23 carries of 10 or more yards last season, just two fewer than Williams. If he can resolve the ball security issues (which is not a small if), he can be a massive fantasy contributor.wftv.com
Williams out with torn ACL, Gregory needs knee surgery
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — (AP) — Broncos standout running back Javonte Williams is out for the year after tearing his right ACL in Denver's 32-23 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, and pass rusher Randy Gregory needs knee surgery and will miss multiple weeks. Without being specific, Hackett also said QB Russell Wilson was hypothetically listed as limited Monday on the players’ day off. Williams earned the starting job this season after sharing backfield duties with Melvin Gordon his rookie year in 2021. Williams is the second key offensive starter the Broncos have lost to a season-ending knee injury. “This is part of football; it's a physical game,” Hackett said.wftv.com
Gordon's butterfingers are getting costly for Denver Broncos
Melvin Gordon's butterfingers have become a hazard for the Denver Broncos, especially with Javonte Williams' season-ending knee injury and Mike Boone's problems picking up the blitz and holding onto passes. The Broncos (2-2) have a condensed week to fix their backfield bugaboos ahead of their game Thursday night against Indianapolis (1-2-1). Gordon's latest flub changed the tenor of the Broncos' game at Las Vegas, where they lost to the league's only 0-3 team and their former coach Josh McDaniels while also losing Williams and Randy Gregory to knee injuries.news.yahoo.com
Big-man hustle play by Broncos' Garrett Bolles goes laughably wrong
Garrett Bolles gave it his all on a play gone wrong for the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Running back Melvin Gordon fumbled on a first-down carry against the Las Vegas Raiders in the second quarter. He had one Broncos pursuer in tow: Bolles — a 6-5, 300-pound offensive tackle. Broncos, Wilson edge Niners, Garoppolo 11-10 in prime time
Russell Wilson and the Broncos (2-1) won despite going three-and-out nine times. Bradley Chubb sacked Garoppolo for a 12-yard loss to the San Francisco 3. The only other game in NFL history that finished 11-10 came on Nov. 16, 2008, when the Steelers edged the Chargers. Robbie Gould's 51-yarder then gave San Francisco a 10-5 edge with 14 minutes remaining. UP NEXTThe 49ers host the Rams on Monday night, Oct. 3, and the Broncos visit the Raiders on Sunday.wftv.com

Chargers win third straight as Herbert sets rookie TD mark
Herbert, the sixth overall pick in the April draft and third QB taken, completed 21 of 33 passes for 253 yards. Badgley also split the uprights from 43 yards late in the second quarter to extend LA’s lead to 13-0 at halftime. After the Chargers went three-and-out, Drew Lock scored on a 1-yard keeper for Denver's first rushing touchdown in seven games. And after Badgley's late field goal, the Broncos got to midfield. McManus then had a 37-yard field goal attempt bounce off the left upright, his first miss inside 40 yards since 2017.
Bills beat Broncos 48-19 for first AFC East crown since 1995
DENVER – Donning gray caps that declared them AFC East champions for the first time since 1995, the Buffalo Bills acted like this was old hat. “To be the team and to be the quarterback on the team that does it, obviously feels really good. “But there’s still a lot on the table.”Buffalo coach Sean McDermott said he received a congratulatory email from Marv Levy, the last Bills coach to win the AFC East. He also missed the 51-yard field goal attempt way to the right on Denver’s opening drive. Broncos: visit the Los Angeles Chargers, who they rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat on Nov. 1 with a touchdown as time ran out.

Broncos running backs coach tests positive for coronavirus
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Denver Broncos running backs coach Curtis Modkins has tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t accompany the team on its trip to New England. “We will take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our team, opponents and community,” the team added. On Friday, the Broncos held running back Melvin Gordon out of practice because of what coach Vic Fangio said was an illness unrelated to the coronavirus. The Patriots canceled practice Friday and later placed center James Ferentz on the reserve/COVID-19 list. On Saturday, the Broncos announced they had elevated defensive lineman Sylvester Williams to the active roster along with running back Jeremy Cox and linebacker Josh Watson.
Broncos top winless Jets 37-28 for first victory of season
On third-and-6 and the Jets leading by one, Quinnen Williams sacked Brett Rypien — but grabbed the quarterback’s helmet and prolonged the drive. Brian Poole then intercepted Rypien, making his first NFL start, on the Broncos’ next possession, giving the Jets the ball at Denver’s 44. Darnold gave the Jets their first lead of the season with a dazzling run that would make running back teammates Frank Gore and Le'Veon Bell proud. Darnold was able to come back early in the second quarter on the Jets' next series — and was promptly sacked again. The Jets took advantage — eventually.
Gostkowski finally delivers in Titans' 16-14 win at Denver

(AP Photo/Jack Dempsey)DENVER – New kicker Stephen Gostkowski avoided a disastrous debut with the Tennessee Titans in the nick of time. The Titans escaped Denver with a 16-14 victory Monday night on Gostkowski’s 25-yard field goal with 17 seconds left after he’d missed four kicks, one in each quarter. Gostkowski missed three field goals: wide left, wide right and a block, and he missed an extra point. And Gostkowski became the first kicker to miss three field goals and a PAT in the same game since Mason Crosby missed four field goals and a PAT for the Packers against the Lions in 2018.

(AP Photo/Bruce Kluckhohn, FIle)MINNEAPOLIS Dalvin Cook logged off last week from virtual team activities with the Minnesota Vikings, no longer willing to participate until he has secured a new contract. The three-year, $39 million contract Arizona gave David Johnson, who's now with Houston, might be the most realistic model. Gordon took a two-year, $8 million contract with Denver.
