NEW YORK — (AP) — Seattle's Julio Rodríguez and Atlanta''s Michael Harris II, a pair of 21-year-old center fielders, were voted Rookies of the Year on Monday. He was voted the National League award, getting 22 firsts and eight seconds for 134 points from a different BBWAA panel. Voting was conducted before the postseason; Peña was voted MVP of the AL Championship Series and World Series. Atlanta pitcher Spencer Strider was second with the other eight first-place votes on the NL side and 21 seconds for 103 points. Cardinals utilityman Brendan Donovan was third with 22 third-place votes and 22 points.

Realmuto became the first catcher to hit an inside-the-park home run in postseason history, circling the bases Saturday when his drive in Game 4 of the NL Division Series bounced off the angled wall and Atlanta right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr. failed to back up the play. It was the 18th inside-the-park homer in postseason history and first by a Phillies player, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Realmuto connected to lead off the third inning against Braves reliever Collin McHugh. Acuña stood in right watching the play, and didn't start running toward the ball until Realmuto was well past first base. Realmuto, who runs extremely well for a catcher, made a headfirst slide into the plate, well ahead of the relay.

ATLANTA — (AP) — The Atlanta Braves made another investment in their future by signing rookie right-hander Spencer Strider to a $75 million, six-year contract on Monday. Strider's contract includes a $22 million club option for 2029 with a $5 million buyout. He will earn $1 million per season in 2023 and 2024, $4 million in 2025, $20 million in 2026, and $22 million per season in 2027-2028. The deal with Harris runs through the 2030 season and includes a $15 million team option for 2031 and a $20 million team option for 2032. If both option years are activated, the total value of the contract would be $102 million over 10 years.
