Lawyers have delivered opening statements in the trial of a former Texas high school athlete who is accused of fatally stabbing a 17-year-old competitor from a rival team at a track meet.

The nation's largest public utility has appointed an independent panel to look into power failures that spurred the decision to implement rolling blackouts during dangerously cold conditions late last year.

“The representations made by Cooper and Musical Destinations were false, and Defendants knew they were false,” the school district lawsuit states. At least seven schools in Alabama and Georgia are trying to get refunds from Musical Destinations following pandemic-related trip cancelations. “If we get a refund from a vendor, you are getting back all of that money,” Cooper told school officials, according to the lawsuit. However, school officials claim they later discovered that the hotel reservations were canceled before any payments were made by Musical Destinations. AdRepresentatives from a transportation provider informed school officials the company had issued a refund to Musical Destinations on March 16, the lawsuit states.
