The announcement Saturday by NL East-leading New York came nearly a year since deGrom’s last major league outing on July 7, 2021. As he builds up arm strength and stamina, the 34-year-old deGrom will need several minor league rehab outings before he’s ready to rejoin New York’s rotation. Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, got hurt May 18 against St. Louis and recently made two rehab starts for Double-A Binghamton. According to the sports news network, three of the first four hitters in the Mariners’ lineup and three Angels’ pitchers were among those players ejected. Meanwhile, on Sunday, Angels starter Andrew Wantz almost clipped Mariners’ star rookie Julio Rodriguez in the first and then struck Jesse Winker with a pitch in the second, CBS Sports reported. According to CBS Sports, the umpires ejected Wantz, Winker, Rodriguez, Iglesias, J.P. Crawford, Angels reliever Ryan Tepera, Los Angeles interim manager Phil Nevin and Mariners manager Scott Servais.
