Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges has been arrested in Los Angeles on the eve of NBA free agency after a warrant was issued, Los Angeles police said.

He led the Hornets to two playoff appearances prior to being fired in 2018 when Mitch Kupchak arrived as general manager.

Steve Clifford is heading back to Charlotte.

The Charlotte Hornets have begun their search for a head coach, asking permission to speak with several candidates, said a person familiar with the situation.

The 44-year-old Borrego was 138-163 in four seasons with the Hornets and had received a multi-year contract extension last August. The Hornets have not make the playoffs since the 2015-16 season and have not won a playoff series since the 2001-02 season. Charlotte has improved its win total by 10 in each of the past two seasons under Borrego and the coach expressed his optimism about the team moving forward after exit interviews. Several Hornets players had said prior to the season if the team didn't make the playoffs it would be considered a disappointment.

The Hornets announced Monday they’ve signed Borrego to a multiyear contract extension. “We’re extremely pleased with the job that coach Borrego and his staff have done in their three years in Charlotte,” general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a news release.
