The Latest: Jets and Jaguars put key players on COVID list

The Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets each lost key defensive players a few hours before kickoff of their game at MetLife Stadium. Jacksonville placed linebacker Myles Jack on the COVID-19 list and New York put defensive lineman Quinnen Williams on the list Sunday. There were 20 players on the active and practice squad rosters — including injured reserve — on the COVID-19 list as of Sunday morning. Jets coach Robert Saleh was ruled out for the game Saturday because he didn’t clear COVID-19 protocols Saturday. Jets quarterbacks coach Rob Calabrese will also miss the game because of COVID-19 protocols.

The Denver Broncos kept possession despite a blocked punt by the Cowboys on their first drive of the second half. Even though Griffith was stopped short of the first down marker, the touch by Wright meant the Broncos retained possession at their 19-yard line. The Broncos capitalized on their fortune Sunday to drive for a field goal that gave them a 19-0 lead midway through the third quarter. Teddy Bridgewater’s 41-yard touchdown pass to Tim Patrick has given the Denver Broncos a 13-0 lead early in the second quarter. Board has movement in his limbs after suffering a concussion and neck injury in the team’s 20-19 win over Washington. Bush, who had not missed a defensive snap all season, injured his left knee in the second quarter when he took an awkward step while attempting to break up a pass. Also, Giants cornerback Darnay Holmes suffered a neck injury in the game. --Ravens RB Mark Ingram (ankle), CB Anthony Averett (shoulder) and OL Tyre Phillips (hand).

Stafford, Swift, Lions protect big lead, pound Jaguars 34-16

This was a victory the Detroit Lions probably needed more than they would admit. Detroit (2-3) made this one look easy, somewhat surprising considering the Lions had lost six straight in which they led by double digits.
