Nelson scores 2 to lead Islanders to 6-4 win over Devils
NEWARK, N.J. — (AP) — Brock Nelson scored twice, Cal Clutterbuck had a goal and an assist and the New York Islanders beat New Jersey 6-4 Friday night, handing the first-place Devils just their second regulation loss in 21 games. It’s a team that’s been playing well all year and we’re trying to catch them,″ said Islanders forward Zach Parise. Nelson scored from the right side off a pass from Romanov to tied it with 4:23 left, giving him a point in seven straight games. Romanov also leveled Devils forward Miles Wood with a body check at 12:05 of the second, sparking a melee in near the Islanders net. It was the sixth time this season — and fourth in the last six games — the Islanders scored two less than a minute apart.

Jesper Bratt, Dawson Mercer, Damon Severson, Tomas Tatar and Yegor Sharangovich scored for the Devils, who haven't lost since Oct. 24 against Washington. Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored for the Oilers, beaten twice by New Jersey during its run. Tatar gave the Devils breathing room about a minute later, gloving down the rebound of Mercer's shot and beating Skinner. ROUGH NIGHT IN NETNot only did Skinner hand the Devils the go-ahead goal, backup netminder Jack Campbell also had a bad night.

NEWARK, N.J. — (AP) — Jesper Boqvist scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period and the New Jersey Devils beat the Arizona Coyotes 4-2 Saturday night for their ninth straight win. Dylan Guenther and Clayton Keller scored for Arizon, which had won the first three games of its season-high 14-game road trip. Boqvist put the Devils ahead 3-2 with 8:41 left as he converted his own rebound for his first of the season. New Jersey Devils fans started the season yelling, “fire Lindy” chants directed at head coach Lindy Ruff. Keller beat Nico Hischier and scored a backhand goal 8:19 into the second to tie it 2-2 on another power-play goal.
