Romanian midwife championed in Britain as homeland in crisis
Anghel, an experienced Romanian midwife, has joined the star-studded ranks of people whose portraits have been taken by famed photographer Rankin. It was done as part of a billboard campaign celebrating the 72nd anniversary of the U.K.s National Health Service, which gives residents free health care. By 2013, more than 14,000 Romanian doctors were working abroad, about 26% of the countrys total number of physicians. Although salaries were increased quite significantly in the state medical system ... this did not slow the pace of departures too much, said Ionita, head of the Bucharest-based Expert Forum think tank. I wish something would change with the Romanian system, but I am so sure its not going to change," she said.

In 1976, Comaneci's perfect 10s made her the perfect one
AP Sports Writer Tim Reynolds interviewed Nadia Comaneci about her perfect performance at the Montreal Olympics and her life since. There were digital scoreboards inside the gymnastics venue at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where the numbers would pop up after each athlete completed an event. And even though a perfect score would be a 10.00, the way the scoreboards were set up meant the highest score, in theory, that they could reveal would be a 9.95. The International Gymnastics Federation said, Dont worry, because nobodys going to score a 10, Comaneci said. After all, Comanecis perfect 10s made her the Perfect One.

Were they worth it?: Key protest movements over the decades
The very nature of a protest suggests a fervent desire for change, the need to right a perceived historic injustice. Confronting tyranny can also backfire, the result a more dictatorial leader or a ruinous civil war. Here's a look at some of the key protests of recent decades and what they achieved or failed. Syria exploded quickly from an uprising against the Assad dynasty to ruinous civil war which still continues with more than half million dead and millions displaced. In neighboring Lebanon and in Iraq, civil protests erupted last October against ruling elites.
