Last Day: Embiid closing in history, NBA matchups to be set

(Frank Gunn/The Canadian Press via AP) (Frank Gunn)Joel Embiid is about to make a lot of history. The final day of the NBA season has no shortage of storylines. If Embiid doesn’t play at all Sunday, Antetokounmpo would need 77 points to tie Embiid for the crown. It’ll be the fewest number of players in NBA history to have appeared in every game for a full regular season. Teams are making 12.4 3’s per game this season, down slightly from the 12.7 per game last season.

Embiid, who entered Monday tied with LeBron James for the NBA lead in scoring (29.8 ppg), is nursing back soreness. The five-time All-Star, who is one of the frontrunners for the MVP award, has played in 58 games this season. Neither Embiid nor Harden looked right in Sunday night’s 93-88 home loss to Toronto.
