The first political salvo of Sunday night's Academy Awards in Los Angeles came in the opening monologue, when Wanda Sykes — one of the trio of hosts for the show — took a thinly veiled jab at Florida's so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill that passed a Republican-controlled state legislature earlier this month. “We’re going to have a great night tonight,” said the openly gay Sykes. The shot at the Florida bill wasn't the only political jab the hosts took in their opening monologue.

Reports say that each actor will be responsible for one hour of the three-hour broadcast, airing live on ABC on March 27. “This year’s show is all about uniting movie lovers,” Packer said in a statement. It's the first time hosting for all three women and the first time in 35 years since there has been this many hosts for one broadcast.
