Coach Frank Vogel said it is possible that James could return on Wednesday when the Lakers have their final regular-season home game against Houston. James originally sprained the ankle on March 20 against the Atlanta Hawks. The Lakers are 1 1/2 games behind Portland for the sixth seed, which would get them out of the play-in tournament.

LeBron James will miss at least one more game to make sure his sprained right ankle is as healthy as possible.

It’s very simple for the Lakers: They win most of their games when LeBron James plays and lose most of their games when he doesn't. "We can't worry about that," Lakers coach Frank Vogel said Friday night after his team lost in Portland to fall to the seventh spot. But if the Lakers don't win most of their remaining five games, the play-in round awaits. The Lakers end the regular season with a road back-to-back against Indiana and New Orleans — both play-in hopefuls — next weekend. If the Lakers finish seventh, they’ll have two chances, both at home, to win one game and make the West playoffs.

Lillard's layup pushed the Blazers ahead 125-123 with 30 seconds left in overtime, but Harden made a 3 to push the Rockets ahead with 15.3 seconds left. Then with 6.3 seconds left, the ball found McCollum again and the Blazers' guard hit another long range shot putting Portland ahead 128-126.
