Israel has deported two activists detained for over a week after leading an aid flotilla attempting to break the naval blockade of Gaza.

Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has demanded the immediate release of a Spanish-Swedish activist detained by Israel after an aid flotilla bound for Gaza was intercepted in international waters.

Israeli authorities say they are taking two activists detained in international waters and who led an aid flotilla bound for Gaza to Israel for questioning.

Dozens of boats carrying activists and aid for Palestinians in Gaza have set sail from the northeastern Spanish city of Barcelona.
