Osceola County’s school zone speed cameras are not issuing tickets, for now, after concerns about their potential placement outside school zone boundaries.

Osceola County joined the growing list of law enforcement agencies to activate speed cameras in school zones after a new state law took effect in 2023.

Starting Aug. 13, drivers caught speeding in one of three school zones in Mount Dora will receive a warning. After the 45-day warning period, those warnings could lead to a $100 fine.

Saying it’s been causing concerns and does not meet the standards "for any program implemented in our community‚" Palm Bay has announced it’s suspending its school zone speed camera program for the remainder of the school year.
