Ons Jabeur makes more history for Arab women at Wimbledon

(AP Photo/Alastair Grant) (Alastair Grant)WIMBLEDON, England — (AP) — To the many “firsts” filling Ons Jabeur’s résumé, add a new one: First Arab woman to reach the semifinals at a Grand Slam tournament. She became the first Arab woman to reach the quarterfinals at a Grand Slam tournament in 2020 at the Australian Open. Novak Djokovic erased a two-set deficit against 10th-seeded Jannik Sinner to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the 11th time.

Down 2 sets, Djokovic tops Sinner; 26th Wimbledon win in row

It says a lot about Novak Djokovic that a two-sets-to-none hole at Wimbledon on a day he was hardly at his best likely left no one thinking the ultimate outcome was a forgone conclusion. Among men, only Federer, with eight, has won more championships than the seven that Djokovic would reach by lifting the trophy Sunday for what would be a fourth year in a row.
