The means he won't need a conflicting event release from the PGA Tour, nor will he be required to play the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am twice over the next three years, the stipulation for PGA Tour members going to Saudi Arabia. Tony Finau ends 5-year drought and wins Northern Trust
Finau was three shots out of the lead when he ran off a birdie-eagle-birdie stretch at Liberty National, the last one a 30-foot putt across the 14th green. Finau had already pounded his drive down the middle of the fairway, and the playoff at that point was effectively over. Rahm's tee shot found the bunker on the 15th and he missed a 6-foot par putt. Mitchell needed a big finish and delivered with three straight birdies for a 69 to tie for eighth at 13-under 271. Day after rules controversy, Reed wins at Torrey Pines
Reed closed with a 4-under 68 at Torrey Pines, making an eagle on the par-5 sixth and finishing off his dominating Sunday with a birdie on the 18th. Without waiting for an official, Reed picked up the ball to see if it was embedded. Reed told the official that no one in his group, as well as a nearby volunteer, saw it bounce. “I was allowed to kind of put it behind me when the head rules official comes up and says you did everything you were supposed to do,” Reed said. Reed took one extra step by calling for a rules official to confirm, though he had already removed the ball from where it had been.

Love appointed captain again, this time for Presidents Cup
The PGA Tour has selected Love to be U.S. captain for the Presidents Cup in 2022 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was captain when Europe rallied from a 10-6 deficit to beat the Americans in the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah, and he was Ryder Cup captain for a rare U.S. victory four years later at Hazeltine. He also was an assistant captain in the Ryder Cup under Corey Pavin in 2010 and Jim Furyk in 2018 and is on the staff of Steve Stricker this year. The Presidents Cup was supposed to be played this year until the COVID-19 pandemic led to the Ryder Cup being postponed one year to this September. ... Sungjae Im shoots 65, takes lead at The American Express
Im shot a 7-under 65 on Friday at The American Express to take a one-stroke lead over first-round leader Brandon Hagy and four others. “Visually from the tee box, it’s a course that I really like and enjoy to play, so I felt really comfortable throughout the round,” Im said. Emiliano Grillo (66), Francesco Molinari (66) and Doug Ghim (68) were two shots off the lead, and eight more were at 8 under. After splitting the first two rounds over two courses, the players will all play the once-feared Stadium Course for the final two rounds. Dustin Johnson out of CJ Cup after positive coronavirus test
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Dustin Johnson became the most prominent player to test positive for the coronavirus since golf resumed in June, forcing him to withdraw Tuesday from the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek. The PGA Tour said in a statement that Johnson notified officials he was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and was given another test that came back positive. 1 player in the world and the reigning PGA Tour player of the year after winning the FedEx Cup for the first time. Johnson is the 12th player to test positive at a tournament or at home since the PGA Tour resumed its schedule on June 8.
