A judge has sentenced rapper Tory Lanez to 10 years in prison Monday for shooting and wounding hip-hop superstar Megan Thee Stallion.

Megan Thee Stallion’s former close friend said in a recorded interview played in court that she saw rapper Tory Lanez fire a gun at Megan’s feet.

Megan Thee Stallion took the stand in a Los Angeles courtroom and told jurors that rapper Tory Lanez fired five shots at her feet, yelled at her to dance and called her an expletive as she tried to walk away from him.

LOS ANGELES – An op-ed by Megan Thee Stallion on the need to protect Black women was published Tuesday as rapper Tory Lanez had his first court hearing on felony charges alleging he shot her. The op-ed was published shortly before a judge released him on bail and ordered him to stay away from her. Lanez's bail was set at $190,000, which was promptly posted, and he was ordered to make no contact with Megan Thee Stallion and to surrender any guns he owns. Prosecutors allege Lanez fired on Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, after she got out of an SUV during an argument. “And we are entitled to our anger about a laundry list of mistreatment and neglect that we suffer.”Megan Thee Stallion has had a breakout run in the past two years that has put her among the biggest stars in hip-hop.
