Appeals officers Derrick Brooks and James Thrash, jointly appointed by the NFL and NFLPA, have reduced the discipline assessed to Randy Gregory and Oday Aboushi, respectively, from one-game suspensions to fines of $50,000 for Gregory and $12,000 for Aboushi. Mayfield, Akers lead Rams' 51-14 blowout of Wilson's Broncos

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — (AP) — Baker Mayfield threw two touchdown passes to Tyler Higbee, Cam Akers rushed for 118 yards and three more scores, and the Los Angeles Rams routed the Denver Broncos 51-14 Sunday for their second victory since mid-October. For at least one more week, Los Angeles avoided becoming the first defending Super Bowl champion to lose 11 games. Wagner then poached a pass from Wilson across the middle of the field and made a long return, and the Rams scored two snaps later on Akers' 3-yard run. Los Angeles had scored just one touchdown off a takeaway all season long before doing it twice more in the first quarter. Higbee made his second TD catch early in the second quarter after a smooth 75-yard drive by the Rams' long-struggling offense.

Fantasy Football Six-Pack: Rhamondre Stevenson to continue to feast in Week 6

We'll have new fantasy pickups to chase in a few days; the waiver wire never takes a week off. The return of DeAndre Hopkins will obviously help Murray specifically and the team's offense generally, but that's still a week away. That's easily the highest rate in the league on such passes; in fact, only 13 other quarterbacks have completed better than 65.5 percent of their total attempts, regardless of depth. This week, he's facing a Cleveland defense that he roasted for 100 yards and two scores last November. Cincinnati won't actually face a top-10 run defense again until Week 12, so it's fair to feel cautiously/nervously optimistic about Mixon.

Akers runs wild, Newton benched as Rams rout Patriots 24-3

These Rams even looked good enough to contend for a chance at some actual Super Bowl redemption later this season. “We’ve got a lot of respect for them, but it’s a totally different year,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. New England managed only 220 total yards — just 62 in the second half with a series of misbegotten drives. Akers' yards mostly came in big chunks during the biggest rushing game by an NFL rookie this season and just the ninth 150-yard game against a Belichick-coached defense since 2000. But Young opened the second quarter with an interception by Donald's disruption up front, taking it all the way back for the third-year linebacker's first NFL touchdown.
