CMT announces five stars as their 2022 Artists of the Year
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — (AP) — CMT will honor country stars Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, Kane Brown, Luke Combs and Walker Hayes as their 2022 Artists of the Year. The network will air its annual TV special on Oct. 14 featuring tributes by other artists. Pearce, Johnson and Hayes are first time artists of the year, while Brown and Combs come back for their third time. Both released new albums in 2022 and will be touring overseas. Friday afternoon, the SEC gave some love to a new tune called "Y'all Life," by Walker Hayes. He's the guy who brought you the "Fancy Like" song last year that ended up as an Applebee's ad. The SEC rolled out the song to its followers on Friday afternoon, saying it "just might be the song of football season right here" and asking Hayes, "wanna collab[orate]"? And there's nothing wrong with liking "Y'all Life," even if it sounds like its catchiness was bred in a laboratory. But when you're talking about the South, the home of country music, you've got to bring a little more game to the picnic than this.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — (AP) — Country star Chris Young combined his skills as an artist and a producer to earn seven nominations at the Academy of Country Music Awards, including album of the year and single of the year. Chris Stapleton, a five-time nominee, is up for entertainer of the year, alongside Lambert, Eric Church, Luke Combs and Carrie Underwood. Wallen earned nominations for album of the year for "Dangerous: The Double Album," which was the most popular album across all genres last year. He also earned nominations for male artist of the year and song of the year. Co-hosts Allen and Barrett also earned nominations for male and female artist of the year, respectively.
