Volusia County school bus involved in crash with garbage truck, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A garbage truck and a Volusia County school bus were involved in a crash Tuesday afternoon in Daytona Beach, police said.

No students were onboard the bus when the crash occurred on West International Speedway Boulevard near Grand Champion, according to Daytona Beach police.

The school bus was headed west on International Speedway Boulevard when the bus hit the garbage truck, Daytona Beach Fire Department officials said.  The school bus hit the back of the dump truck and the two vehicles landed in a nearby ditch.

Both drivers were taken to Halifax Health in Daytona Beach with minor injuries.

Authorities closed one lane of east International Speedway Boulevard while the crash investigation was underway.
