Jackknifed FedEx semi closes SR 417 in Seminole County

Traffic diverted onto Aloma Avenue in Oviedo

OVIEDO, Fla. – A FedEx semi pulling two trailers loaded with packages jackknifed Monday morning in Seminole County, forcing officials to close State Road 417 near Oviedo.

The crash was reported at 6 a.m. on northbound S.R. 417 at Aloma Avenue. Traffic was diverted off the toll road onto Aloma Avenue, but S.R. 417 was later reopened.

The FHP said Federico Aguirre-Moran, 58, of Orlando, was driving north on S.R. 417 when he lost control of the big rig and struck a guardrail.

The tractor-trailer jackknifed, blocking the roadway.

Troopers said Aguirre-Moran suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Oviedo ER.

Charges are pending against Aguirre-Moran, the FHP said.
