Man killed when car slams into back of truck stopped at Polk County traffic light

33-year-old Davenport man dies in crash on U.S. Highway 27 at Sanders Road

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 33-year-old Davenport man was killed Monday morning in Polk County when his car slammed into the back of a truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened around 4:25 a.m. on U.S. Highway 27 at Sanders Road.

The FHP said a single unit truck was stopped at a traffic light at U.S. 27 and Sanders Road when the man failed to stop and crashed into the back of the truck.

The car driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an FHP crash report.

The truck driver, a 54-year-old Winter Springs man, was not injured, troopers said.
