Pedestrian struck, killed in crash on US-1 at I-95 in Volusia County, troopers say

Pedestrian was not in marked crosswalk, FHP says

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed Monday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on US-1 at Interstate 95 in Volusia County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to the wreck around 5:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes.

According to a crash report, the pedestrian, only identified as a man, was walking on US-1 when he stepped into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. FHP said the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk.

Troopers said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, a 63-year-old Daytona Beach man, was uninjured.

An investigation is ongoing.
