ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 traffic safety expert Trooper Steve answers viewer questions about the rules of the road, helping Florida residents become better drivers by being better educated.
On Thursday, a viewer named Susan asked Trooper Steve, “My friends like removing their jacket or sweater while driving. Is this not careless driving?

“Get out of the car while you can!” Trooper Steve said at first.
He added that although removing clothing while driving is not illegal, it is “just plain dangerous.”
“What happens if you got stuck? We’ve all been in that situation — can’t get your arm out of the sleeve of a shirt or something like that,” Trooper Steve said.
Just because there’s not a rule against something that doesn’t mean you should do it, he added.
