Driver given citation in crash that hurt 15-year-old boy on scooter in Seminole County, sheriff’s office says

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was given a traffic citation in a Seminole County crash on Tuesday which left a 15-year-old boy in the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. as the boy crossed a street on a scooter near Lake Park Drive and Green Way Boulevard, where he was struck by a white sedan, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The boy suffered numerous scrapes and abrasions and was taken to Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital, the statement reads.

Detectives described the sedan’s driver as a 77-year-old man, adding he was cited with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The teen suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

An investigation is ongoing.
