74-year-old motorcyclist killed in Marion County crash, troopers say

Crash happened at C.R. 25 and SE Sunset Harbor Road

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 74-year-old New Port Richey man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Marion County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at C.R. 25 and SE Sunset Harbor Road around 4:11 p.m.

According to a crash report, an SUV being driven by an 80-year-old Weirsdale woman, was traveling east on Southeast Sunset Harbor Road and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with C.R. 25.

At the same time, a motorcycle was traveling south on C.R. 25, approaching the same intersection.

Troopers said the SUV entered the intersection and the motorcycle collided with the side of the SUV.

The motorcyclist, identified as a 74-year-old New Port Richey man, was taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP.
