POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A fiery crash Thursday night in Polk County killed two people and left a road shut down for several hours, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were dispatched around 10 p.m. to U.S. 27 and Bay Street, where a witness reported two vehicles collided, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to News 6.

One of the vehicles caught fire, the sheriff’s office said, adding the roadway was reopened around 4:12 a.m.
