Box truck fire shuts down Florida Turnpike near Clermont, FHP says

Lanes appear reopened, no injuries reported

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A burning box truck forced the temporary closure of all northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike near Clermont on Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers were on scene before 9 a.m. in the area of mile marker 279 (North Hancock Road) and reported no injuries, according to a preliminary statement.

Tow trucks were in the process of cleaning up the scene at the time, the statement reads.

Another check of the traffic cameras around noon showed vehicles were moving again.

FHP is still investigating.
