LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 51-year-old Ocklawaha woman died after the SUV she was driving crashed Saturday night near Umatilla, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. at County Roads 450 and 42, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the SUV was traveling north on County Road 450 when, for an unknown reason, it failed to stop at a stop sign and continued through the intersection.
The SUV then left the roadway onto the north grass shoulder, where it struck a warning sign before hitting a tree, the report states.
The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, according to FHP. Troopers believe she was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.
