3-year-old struck, critically injured in Sanford hit-and-run

A 3-year-old was struck and injured Thursday night in a hit-and-run in Sanford, police said.

The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Persimmon Avenue, south of Historic Goldsboro Boulevard near SW Road.

The child was taken to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in stable but critical condition, Sanford police said.

According to police, “the individual(s) in the vehicle fled the scene on foot, so the incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run.”

Police said officers spoke with “multiple individuals who matched the descriptions provided by witnesses,” but no other details have been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
