KISSIMMEE, Fla. – You’ve seen us tackle traffic, clear up confusion about the rules of the road, and highlight what’s happening on your street but today, we’re hitting the hardwood!
This week, I’m proud to be streaming live from the Hoops with Heroes Basketball Youth Camp, an event powered by the Kissimmee Police Department that goes beyond the badge to build bridges through basketball. This isn’t just a camp. It’s a movement showing what real community engagement looks like.
What’s happening?
The Hoops with Heroes camp is all about teamwork, mentorship, and community spirit. Hosted at the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida (2411 Dyer Blvd., Kissimmee), this free camp invites local youth to spend the day dribbling, shooting, and learning life skills alongside local law enforcement officers. And trust me, it’s a game-changer.
We’ll be bringing you exclusive behind-the-scenes access during our live stream, giving you a courtside seat to the action and the heart behind it all. I’ll be talking with the officers, mentors and young athletes about what this camp means to them and why initiatives like these are so crucial in today’s world.
This is more than basketball. It’s about respect, relationships and realizing that the uniform doesn’t build a wall, it opens a door. Watching these kids laugh, learn, and grow alongside those who serve and protect is nothing short of inspiring.
If you’re reading this and want to get involved (or know someone who should), registration is required. Visit kissimmee.gov/hoopswithheroes to sign up.
Join me on stream, cheer on our youth, and help celebrate a community that leads with compassion and maybe a few killer crossovers.
