Trooper Steve on Patrol checks out new pedestrian crossing in Sanford

SANFORD, Fla. – Today, we’re heading back to a stretch of roadway in Sanford that many of you may remember, SR-46 and W First St.

Not too long ago, this area was a full-blown construction zone. We visited during the work to show you the mess, the lane closures and the challenges drivers and pedestrians faced while the upgrades were underway.

Now, the cones and machinery are mostly gone, and the project is in functioning as planned. Among the improvements is a brand-new pedestrian crossing designed to make it safer and easier for people to get across this busy road.

We’ll be out there today to see the results for ourselves, how the crossing looks, how it’s working, and most importantly, whether people are actually using it.

If you live or travel through this area, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the changes. Did the construction improve safety and traffic flow? Are drivers respecting the new crossing? Join us on our stream at 10 a.m. as we take a closer look and get some answers straight from the scene.
