MARION COUNTY, Fla. – An Ocala man died and a Belleview woman was arrested in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on State Road 35 near SE 102 Place Road, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the 28-year-old woman was driving a sedan with the 27-year-old man riding as a passenger as they traveled south on S.R. 35.
The driver failed to safely negotiate a curve toward the right and the sedan exited the roadway, entering the west grass shoulder while rotating, the report states.
Troopers believe the woman was wearing a seat belt in the crash while the man was not. The sedan struck a wooden fence, then a large tree, ejecting the man, according to the report. The man came to rest on the west shoulder and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, the report states.
The woman suffered minor injuries in the crash and was later arrested to face a charge of DUI manslaughter, troopers said.
