OVIEDO, Fla. – A double-fatal crash is under investigation early Tuesday in an Oviedo neighborhood, police said.
The single-vehicle wreck happened around 1:40 a.m. on Alafaya Woods Boulevard near Covington Street in the Alafaya Woods subdivision.
News 6 community correspondent Stephanie Rodriguez said a Jeep slammed into a tree and became engulfed in flames.
Firefighters responded to the wreck and once the flames were out, two people were found dead inside the Jeep Wrangler, police said.
Police were unable to identify the victims due to the nature of the fire, the department said.
Alafaya Woods Boulevard was closed in the area but later reopened around 7:15 a.m.
An investigation is ongoing.
