LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 51-year-old Astatula man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday near Umatilla, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 1:17 a.m. on County Road 450, near Babb Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 westbound on C.R. 450, approaching Babb Road, when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway into the tree line.

The truck began rotating and its right side struck a tree, FHP said.

The man, who troopers believe was not wearing a seat belt during the crash and was partially ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states.

FHP is still investigating.
