HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando woman who got out of her car after a crash on Interstate 4 was struck and killed by another vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes around 10:50 p.m. Sunday near mile marker 6 in Hillsborough County.
According to troopers, a Honda Civic driven by a 16-year-old boy had lost control “along the wet roadway” and hit a concrete barrier wall.
The 20-year-old Orlando woman, who was driving a Toyota Corolla, collided with the Honda Civic before coming to a stop in the median.
The FHP said a 24-year-old Lakeland man driving a Toyota Camry had tried to avoid the Honda Civic, which was still in the eastbound lanes. The Toyota Camry rotated as the driver attempted to avoid the vehicle and struck the Orlando woman, who had gotten out of her car, before colliding with a median barrier.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other information was released.
